ESTG hosts Blended Intensive Programme “Digital & Green Transition in Action”

Between the 20th and 24th of April, ESTG welcomed students and staff from several partner institutions for the Blended Intensive Programme.

Developed within the framework of Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes, the initiative brought together participants from five higher education institutions, fostering international collaboration, intercultural exchange, and challenge-based learning.

Throughout the programme, participants worked in international teams to develop innovative and sustainable solutions connected to real challenges faced by the Tâmega e Sousa region. The programme focused on five key challenge scenarios: Green Consumerism; Resource Optimisation and Waste Reduction; Community Connectivity and Digital Innovation; Digital Literacy and Bridging the Digital Divide; Climate Resilience and Adaptation.

Using a Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) methodology, students engaged in a dynamic learning experience that combined theory with practical application. Through tools such as design thinking, empathy mapping, business model canvas development, and impact planning, participants designed prototypes and sustainable business models aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The programme also included field-based and experiential learning activities across the region, enabling participants to engage directly with local realities, stakeholders, and community challenges. Guest speakers, mentors, and experts contributed throughout the week, enriching discussions and helping bridge academic knowledge with practical implementation.

By the end of the programme, participants presented innovative solutions integrating digital innovation and sustainability, alongside leadership and impact plans designed to create measurable social, environmental, and economic value.

This initiative once again reinforced the importance of European cooperation in higher education and the role of international partnerships in creating meaningful educational experiences that prepare students to address contemporary global challenges.

ESTG would like to express its sincere appreciation to all partner institutions, guest speakers, mentors, and local stakeholders involved in the programme. A special thank you is extended to WSB University, Universidad de León, International School for Social and Business Studies (ISSBS), and Budapest University of Economics and Business for their collaboration, commitment, and continuous support throughout this initiative.

Most importantly, thank you to all participating students for their enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication, which made this edition of the programme a truly enriching and impactful experience.
