Mobility Report by Diogo Ferreira

Diogo Ferreira @ AKADEMIA WSB

My name is Diogo Ferreira, and I’m currently studying Computer Engineering. I’ve participated in an Erasmus+ program before, therefore, I knew from the start that a Blended Intensive Program would be an excellent opportunity to expand my horizons, not only at a professional and academic level but, more importantly, at a personal level.

I found out about this mobility through my university, and it immediately stood out because it wasn’t a typical exchange. The mix of online and in-person activities made it feel more dynamic and accessible. Furthermore, being a short-term mobility of just a week, it felt like it was made especially for my busy schedule (CE students will surely relate).

My main goal was to learn in an international environment, work with people from different backgrounds, and develop both technical and interpersonal skills. I feel like this specific BIP, which focused on Leadership Across Cultures, was the cherry on top because not only did it give us many important lessons that we will apply throughout our lives, but it was also quite light, placing more emphasis on the student experience abroad.

The physical mobility part was definitely the highlight. Being there in person made everything more real and engaging, from the classes to the extracurricular activities. That’s where the best connections and memories were made.

Overall, the experience was amazing. It’s incredible how, in just a week, one can meet so many talented, kind-hearted people and share ideas while creating memories that I’ll keep with me forever. It was intense, but in a really good way.

I think the BIP format works really well. It combines flexibility with a strong in-person experience, which makes it both practical and impactful.

Of course, some of the best moments included the cultural exchanges, group projects, and lectures from dedicated professionals. However, I would be lying on behalf of all my colleagues if we didn’t mention the Polish gun range. Yes, you read that right.

Speaking of the BIP again, it actually exceeded my expectations. I expected to learn, but I didn’t expect to connect so much with people or grow this much in such a short time.

One thing that surprised me was how open and friendly people were. I expected it to be a bit harder to connect, but it was actually the opposite, even when talking about the supposedly “cold” Polish people!

Overall, I would 100% recommend this experience. It’s not just about studying, it’s about growing, meeting people, stepping out of your comfort zone, and seeing things from a different perspective.

10/10 — would go again tomorrow!
