International Workshop “Assortment and shelf space optimization in food retail”

The School of Management and Technology at P.PORTO invites the community to participate in the International Workshop.

07th March 2024, from 07.00 pm to 08.30 pm, AUD2

The lecture will introduce the assortment and shelf space planning problems encountered in food retail. It will especially go into detail about which aspects drive customer demand and have an impact on shelf space planning. Mathematical optimization models as well as solution approaches are illustrated. Lastly, we will discuss the challenges encountered in implementing shelf space models in practice.

Invited Speaker: Sandra Zajac  – Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Germany

Sandra Zajac is a PostDoc at the Chair of Supply Chain Management and Operations at the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. After defending her PhD thesis on transportation planning problems at various planning levels at the Chair of Operations Research in Bochum, Germany, she gained experience as an IT Business Analyst at a large grocery retailer. Inspired by various decision problems encountered there, her current research interests revolve around topics in retail operations, most notably shelf space planning problems. She is an author/co-author of papers that were published in internationally renowned journals, including the European Journal of Operational Research and Computers & OR.
